The Living Area & Kitchen

Cathedral ceilings with the exposed 19th-century log construction overhead give the living area a weight and character that no new-built cabin can replicate. A fireplace runs from October through February, a flat-screen TV with cable handles quieter evenings, and the whole room feels like it belongs exactly where it sits — at the edge of the river, in the trees, away from everything. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking in, with a farmhouse dining table for three just steps away for meals that don't need to be an event.

The queen bedroom has its own fireplace running from October through February — the kind of detail that makes a cool Smoky Mountain night feel like the whole point of the trip.
